I just finished sorting things from my school locker. That would be 4 years worth of junk. I decided to give up my locker since I will be taking only (and hopefully) three subjects next semester. I love my locker but 1,250PHP is pretty expensive for a 1-year rental.

I found interesting things from all that junk. Pictures (a handful of polaroids), Old issues of Time and the Asian Wall Street Journal, Newspaper clippings, Old test booklets (3/50 in DAQT... good job), One black broken leather tote, Starbucks Coffee mug and disgusting items of clothing (Black socks and Lab apron anyone?).

Now I know why I dread cleaning up my room. Every minute I have to make a decision whether to trash something or not and also face embarassing bits and pieces of my life.

I still have a plastic bag full of locker junk and old school bags to go through, not to mention my room full of boxes...I am determined to declutter my room as a step in decluttering my life (Oh yes thank you Dr. Phil) I need a big shredder and somebody to tell me "JUST THROW IT!"

Today marks the seventh year anniversary of my "writing" career. Sadly I don't think I have one despite getting published countless of times aand even doing some work for magazines. I just finished doing a review on the iPod video and iPod Hi-Fi (BTW thanks to Alexei) and I am very disappointed with it. My skills are so rusty I need to be bitchslapped back to English 101. It's a good thing my former teacher in Business Writing Ms. Janet agreed to proofread it. I have to start from scratch and practice everyday. Blogging everyday should help.

Oh this Thursday also marks my one year as an Agence France-Presse Intern and sadly, I don't think I have progressed much. People still have to twist my arm to look at my photos, I still don't get the hang of CORRECT EXPOSURE (and not to mention timing) and I haven't been published. Well actually I did once in NEWSBREAK last January but I don't really count that.

However, like I mentioned in an interview, June 1, 2005 was the turning point of my dull life.

A handful of rallies and presscons on the side; Dozens of mooched Football wallpapers from the archives; numerous nights and bottles of (light) beer at the Oar House; Many new friends, mentors, acquaintances and a photojournalist for a boyfriend; Three workshops and two foreign mentors plus a botched student projection to boot and lastly, a pseudo backpacking trip around Asia. Truly quite an interesting year it has been.

Anyway, as always, ROME WASN'T BUILT IN A DAY.

Tomorrow is the deadline and hats off to the senior who can submit her writeup on time. I know they told us a long time ago but please next time don't put "unnecessary" deadlines during hell week. I don't want my write-up to be generic so it's a good thing Gang the great blogged about me the other day *gasp she has a blog?!* it's really cool, I'm so touched.

The Thing About Tammy

As all accidental friends go, she surprised me. I suppose there are some events and people in my life who were heralded but not this one. She's over a decade younger but her stubbornness show steel. And I like it. The thing is, she thinks she's not tough enough for many things.

I think she's letting us on.

Her capacity to be gentle is her strength. And her obstinate nature will pull her through. She is unaffected by frivolity and she walks on without pretention. How interesting to see her in her potential energy stage. Her self-deprecation only proves the sword of confidence she secretly wields.

I have a good feeling about her, this Tammy girl. She will do well. She doesn't know it yet. But I do.

The first semester is not yet over but heck

- I already got my ticket to KL. I leave on the 19th and my returning flight back to Manila is booked on November 12. If I don't get out of the waitlist then pucha am going to be away for three weeks!

- Tata Romy finally replied. I can crash at his place. YES! Problem is his family will be in KL too on the 21st. Shet diyahe. And I have no place to stay from October 31 to November 2. Double shet. I guess I have to cross to Singapore for a place to stay.

- I sent in an application to the Angkor Photo Festival. Pao and Veejay convinced me in a way to send in whatever photos I have so I did last night. Mostly from SONA and last year's trip to Beijing. I modified my CV and Gang dropped by the house around 12 midnight to do my motivation letter. So... bahala na Lord.

- I bought a Let's Go! Guidebook to Southeast Asia. Lonely Planet is just too expensive...anyway point is THERE'S NO TURNING BACK. Backpacking na 'toh! slumming, pankraking, mooching oh shit this is going to be a very interesting sembreak.

Finance exam ended at 5:30pm. The exam was so hard, even Hans "Too rational to function" Lim ended with the rest of us.

Instead of having the usual feeling of relief that the another killer exam just ended, I felt more down since I know standard e-for-effort shit like showing up in class and submitting all assignments will not help me get a passing grade.

Shit I need for self-discipline. I'm having such a hard time and this is only FINANCE I!!

I guess this is punishment for barely passing accounting 1 & 2.

Since Mang Roger was stuck in Quiapo, I took the MRT and rode the jeep to AFP. I wanted to get my footie fix of hi-res photos of football matches to help me forget about Finance.

When I got to the office, only Jason and the AFX people were there. Jasonw as busy finishing some articles I guess since he's spending the weekend in Hong Kong. Most computers are locked now except for one pc in the control area so I was able to surf but didn't get any photos.

Karl came with Mang Tony of course. Mang Tony is the bomb. He's the spoiled rotten driver of the Bureau chiefs and he's been with AFP since back in the day. His salary is supposedly bigger that photogs. Well I guess that explains his decadent lifestyle AND generosity (he treats me to Dell's merienda and even gave me a 100 bucks to watch a movie when I went to the office all pouty)

But Mang Tony did something disgusting it almost made me puke. His meal, or should I say, merienda of the hour was rice and noodles...MIXED. Straight from the plastic and no utensils. Ugh. But he's still cool. Cool enough to say I slimmed down and not whack me in the head after slapping his belly all afternoon. Hehehehe.
